2020-2021 Bahar Dönemi Hakkında

Dear Students,

We would like to inform you about some highlights regarding remote, face to face and hybrid modes of teaching and learning practices for the 2020-21 Spring Semester.

On 17.02.2021, Higher Education Council (YÖK) released the following press statement on this issue: https://www.yok.gov.tr/HaberBelgeleri/BasinAciklamasi/2021/2020-2021-bahar-donemine-iliskin-aciklama.pdf

In this statement, it is advised that all theoretical courses are pursued online, whereas the conduct of applied courses is left rather vague, leaving room for universities to take their own measures and develop their own methods. However, it also draws attention to the potential risks and encourages minimal mobility, small group size, and additional precautions.

On 12.02.2021, the following decision by the Senate of TED University was announced by the Rectorate: https://portal.tedu.edu.tr/irj/go/km/docs/documents/TED%20Universitesi/12.GenelPaylasım/2020B_COVID19/WEBDuyurular/Rektorluk/20210212/2020-2021-BaharYarıyılı-Uzaktan_Öğretim_Uygulama_Esasları.pdf

Based on this decision, all theoretical courses will be conducted remotely but synchronously. The applied courses, on the other hand, can be partially conducted face to face or hybrid, depending on the conditions of the pandemic. The details are expected to be planned by  each Faculty.

Both announcements require us to be flexible in planning as they both point out the risky and unpredictable conditions of the pandemic and the need for reassessment during the semester.

Based on this, we can make the following inferences:

  • A safe, full-time work environment in the studios/campus cannot be maintained currently.

  • However, it is possible to incorporate “hybrid” methods by planning brief, non-digital encounters at certain projects. For details, follow the announcements made by your studio instructors.

  • If you are experiencing any conditions that might prevent you from attending physical sessions, please inform your studio instructors. They need this information for planning.

  • We will re-evaluate the situation in the following weeks based on the progress of the pandemic.

We wish you all a healthy and successful semester.

Best,

TEDU ID Team
